Thanksgiving meal distribution
Each November, the Why Not Foundation serves the families of South Los Angeles by handing out meals, wellness kits, and warm weather essentials at Jesse Owens Park. Four fourteen years, we’ve partnered with fellow organizations like It’s Bigger Than Us, Drew League Foundation and more to bring this meal distribution to life for local families.
Basketball Camp
Every year, over 100 youth from diverse backgrounds join us for a two-day basketball intensive camp hosted by Russell Westbrook and a group of Basketball camp coaches.
Our young participants engage in activities to improve their health, wellness, and basketball skills; from aiming for impressive jump shots to learning signature dribbling techniques–they build confidence that they can carry on and off the court, just in time for the new school year!
Wildfire Recovery + Rebuilding
The Foundation kicked off 2025 with rapid responses to support families affected by the wildfires across Los Angeles. Providing snacks, nourishing meals, support care kits and supplies to children and displaced families, refreshments for exhausted firefighters, grants to mutual aid funds, and ongoing workforce development efforts.
TakeOver Days
Our summer programming supports thousands of children and families with hands-on access to cooking, wellness, sports, and leadership experiences with our Why Not? Takeover Days across South LA and Pasadena.
